Only hours after units cleared from the two-alarm fire in Chesapeake Beach, Company 2 was alerted to a working house fire in our first due area. Around 11 p.m. units quickly responded to the 2400 block of S. Solomons Island Road.

Dispatchers initially said there was multi-structure involved, more specifically a single story home with an apartment over top of the garage.

Upon arrival, Chief 2 with the command, reported the there was heavy smoke and fire coming from the home. The house, located down an extremely long driveway with a lot of turns, did not have a hydrant readily available. Tankers from multiple areas were bought in to shuttle water to the site from the Prince Frederick Volunteer Fire Department to assist with water supply.

Everyone inside the home made it out without any injury. Units operated on the scene for several hours. The cause of the fire is still under investigation. The Red Cross is helping the family with temporary housing and supplies.
