Serious Auto Accident in Prince Frederick
On October 15, 2018, PFVFD was dispatched to a serious motor vehicle accident with one car overturned. Dispatchers said someone in one of the cars was trapped.
Chief 2-A Brian Ficke arrived, established command over the scene. Engine 22, Huntingtown VFD’s Squad 6 and St. Leonard’s Squad 7 operated on the scene to rescue drivers in the vehicles.
The crew from Huntingtown supported Engine 22 with stabilizing the car and was able to successfully remove the patient. St. Leonard’s crew also assisted in getting the second patient out of the other vehicle.
Engine 21 from our station responded to a local area for a helicopter landing site, but later found out the helicopters were not able to fly due to weather conditions. Both patients in turn were transported to a local hospital.
Extensive debris and vehicle fluids caused southbound Route 4 to be closed for a little more than one hour. State Highway also responded to assist with extensive highway cleanup.
