PFVFD Crews Respond To Working House Fire, Dog Rescued
On January 22, 2019, around 2:45 p.m. Engine 21, Truck 2 and Tanker 2 responded to the working house fire in the 6000 block of Bandit Al Lane in St. Leonard. PFVFD Chief 2-B Willie Gray had command of the incident.
Initial crews found a 2-story Cape Cod with heavy fire on the back deck. Those flames spread quickly to the interior of the house attacking the first and second floor, the walls and attic.
As the fire was being knocked down by PFVFD and surrounding departments, a cat managed to escape safely. Fire crews inside located a dog and brought the animal out to safety. Both survived.
PFVFD operated on the scene for more than two hours. No other injuries were reported and the homeowners were not inside at the time of the fire.
The Maryland State Fire Marshals office is investigating the cause.
