PFVFD Celebrates 2019 Accomplishments At Awards Banquet

On Saturday, February 15, 2020, the Prince Frederick Volunteer Fire Department gathered to celebrate and highlight the accomplishments from the previous year. 2019 was full of achievements and challenges, especially with moving the entire department to temporary housing while a new firehouse is under construction along route 4.

In 2019, the membership also completed the new Squad 2 and Brush 2 project. It took an incredible amount of time and energy to finish both pieces of apparatus and get them in service. In addition, Company 2 said goodbye to the longest Lifetime member in PFVFD history, Chief Vernon Horsmon, Sr., which was incredibly difficult to do.

During the banquet, Fire Chief Joseph Della-Camera and President Patrick Hassler presented the membership with newly designed t-shirts. This shirt honors those who are fighting cancer and survivors of the disease. The graphic and slogan, “Support. Care. Cure.,” was made specifically with Lifetime member Kerry White in mind as he continues to fight his cancer battle.

Fire Chief Della-Camera says this about 2019, “It was an eventful year for our department. Although the year provided us with hardships and obstacles we came together and provided a valuable service to our community. The annual banquet is our way to highlight the past year and recognize our elected officials, county government counterparts and community supporters but most importantly it allows us the ability to recognize our membership for their tireless efforts and continued success.” Della Camera adds, “I am thankful to have led an outstanding group of people in my first year as Fire Chief and look forward to continuing our success in 2020.”

We would like to thank Hollywood, Bay District, Mechanicsville and St. Leonard volunteer fire departments for assisting on the fill in duties.
