Crews Rescue Man Trapped Under Lawnmower

On May 19, 2021 around 6 p.m. Company 2 was called to Chesapeake Avenue for a report of an adult male trapped under a lawn mower.

Crews from Squad 2, Engine 22, Huntingtown Volunteer Fire Department, Maryland State Police and the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office located the male stuck in a drainage ditch.

Volunteer first responders, troopers and deputies quickly sprang into action to remove the mower and rescue the man. He was transported by Prince Frederick Volunteer Rescue Squad CO. 4 to a local hospital for a check up.

On the Prince Frederick Volunteer Fire Department’s Facebook page, Chris Murphy, who said he was the man trapped wants the public to know, “I want to thank all of the first responders that came to my aid. You guys rock. My ambulance team was awesome.”

Murphy said he was discharged.
