Company 2 Responds To Fire At Navy Recreational Center

On January 6, 2021 at 11:50 a.m. the Prince Frederick Volunteer Fire Department was called to the 13800 block of S. Solomons Island Road for a reported fire in the building at the Navy Recreational Center. Calvert County dispatchers told responding crews smoke was visible, the incident involves a portable office and no one was trapped.

Crews from the Solomons VRSFD were among the first to arrive. Company 3’s engine crew located a 25×30 structure with flames through the roof.

Engine 21 operated as the 5th due engine and ultimately supplied Engine 7. Company 2 also assisted with overhaul and checking for extension throughout. No injuries were reported and crews cleared the location after two hours.

“The cause of the fire is being investigated by NDW / NAS Patuxent River and the Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office,” St. Leonard VFD concludes.
