29, 2010 - At 1433 hours, Engine Company 2 was alerted Mutual
Aide to Charles County for a building. E21 responded to the
7200 block of Benedict Avenue as units from Benedict arrived
to find smoke showing from a church. E21 arrived and completed
Charles E23's split lay to a nearby hydrant. Crews found heavy
smoke throughout and located an oil fed furnace on fire in the
basement with extension to the ductwork and floor joists. The
fire was quickly extinguished as crews worked to open up the

20, 2010 - At 1315 hours, units from Dunkirk VFD and North
Beach VFD were alerted to Box 42-14 in Anne Arundel County for
a house. Units responded to the 5800 block of Little Road and
arrived on side Alpha of a two story single family with fire
showing. E21 transferred to E5 and were placed on the Box to
assist units after a May Day was declared. Members from E5 and
E42 fell through the first floor into the basement. The
firefighters were quickly removed via a ground ladder through
the hole. Among those injured was Prince Frederick Volunteer
FF Tommy Scott IV who was working at E42. FF Scott was flown
to Medstar for further evaluation. We would like to wish the

12, 2010 - At 1530 hours, Engine Company 2 was alerted to Box
6-08 for a house. E21 responded to the 300 block of Sun Park
Lane in Sunderland. Safety 6 arrived on side Alpha of a one
story single family with nothing evident and a report of one
trapped inside. While trying to enter, Safety 6 was greeted
with heavy smoke and heat conditions. Units arrived and
located a female in the bathroom, removed her and started CPR.
Unfortunately, the subject succumbed to her injuries. Units
operated for 3 hours assisting investigators. Pictures

6, 2010 - At 1150 hours, units were alerted to Box 6-23 for
a woodstove on fire. E21(2nd due Engine), TL2(first due
Truck) and Tnk2 responded to the 2400 block of Emmanuel
Court in Huntingtown. E6 arrived on side Alpha of a two
story commercial building with fire showing. E21 and TL2
arrived and were assigned to Exposures. The Engine crew
knocked down all visible fire in the Bravo exposure. All
fire was knocked down in 20 minutes and Company 2 crews
assisted Huntingtown units for 3 hours with overhaul. Photos

Cassell
and Dares Beach MVA |

1, 2010 - At 1023 hours, Rescue 2 was alerted to Box 2-13 for
a serious personal injury accident. RS2,
E21, Chief 2 and Chief 2A responded to Cassell Blvd and Dares
Beach Rd. Chief 4 arrived and advised that the vehicle was on
its side with one trapped. RS2 arrived and deployed to Rescue
42 struts. Chief 2 arrived and established Cassell Blvd
Command and assigned Chief 2A the extrication group. Units
went to work removing the driver's door. The patient was
extricated and transported to PG's Trauma Center by Trooper 7
for further evaluation. E21 handled LZ. |
