1, 2009 - At 0141 hours, with the Squad out of service,
Engine Company 2 was alerted to Box 2-05 for a personal
injury accident. E22, TL2 and C2B responded to Sandy Point
Road, just in from Sixes Road and found one vehicle
overturned with one trapped. The Engine crew quickly
stabilized the vehicle and was able to use the Hurst
Maverick tool to free the patient prior to any other
companies arriving. The patient was packaged and flown to a
local trauma center for further evaluation. A second
occupant was transported to CMH for a check-up. Company 2
units cleared in 30 minutes. On a side note: extrication
equipment had been placed on the Tower from the Squad as a
trial period for when the Squad goes out for rehab in a
couple months.
