Blvd / Costley Gas Leak
January
30, 2012 - At 0759 hours, Company 2 was alerted to Box 2-16 for
a gas line struck. E21, E22, and Chief 2 responded to Prince
Frederick Boulevard and Costley Way. Chief 2 arrived and
confirmed workers had struck a gas line while digging with a
mini excavator. The area was secured until the arrival of
Washington Gas. The gas leak was secured within two hours.
Terrace
Dr House
January
24, 2012 - At 2326 hours, Company 2 units were alerted to Box
2-12 for a house. E21, E22, Twr2, Sqd2, Tnk2, Ch2, and Ch2A
responded to the Unit Block of Terrace Drive. E21 experienced a
mechanical issue while turning on Terrace Drive. However, the
crew arrived on side Alpha of a split foyer single family with
fire showing from the lower level. The crew held the fire in
check until E61 arrived. E21's crew pulled a line off of E61 and
extinguished fire in the lower level. Twr2 arrived, opened up,
and performed a primary search. Sqd2 arrived and controlled the
utilities. Unfortunately while performing a secondary search,
five animals were found that had succumbed to the smoke
conditions. Company 2 units operated for three hours assisting

Calvert
Middle School Training
January
21, 2012 - The Prince Frederick Volunteers, along with other
county departments, have been training in the old Calvert Middle
School this month. Members have been doing back to basics
training; running attack lines, performing searches, RIT
training, forcible entry, breaching walls, ventilation, incident
command scenarios, etc. We would like to thank everyone for
their participation, and to Lt Breen for directing the training.
Special thanks to the county for giving us this opportunity.
Calvert Middle is set to be demolished on February 1st.

January
17, 2012 - The Prince Frederick Volunteers would like express
our condolences to the Hollywood VFD, and the friends and
family of Jenks Mattingly. Jenks was a great friend to PFVFD for
many years, and the Master of Ceremonies for several of our banquets. May you rest in peace Jenks.

Engine 22 Ordered
January
8, 2012 - The Prince Frederick Volunteer Fire Department proudly
announces that a contract has been signed to purchase a 2012
Seagrave Marauder II. The new Engine 22 will be a twin to our
2008 Seagrave with the exception of a few minor updates. The
construction on this unit will be completed around October.
Deadwood
Dr House
January
2, 2012 - At 1925 hours, Engine 21, Tanker 2, Duty Chief 2A, and
Chief 2C were alerted to Box 3-10 for a house. Company 2 units
responded to the 11600 block of Deadwood Drive in the Chesapeake
Ranch Estates. First arriving units found a one story single
family with fire showing from side Alpha and Bravo. Squad 2
responded on the Working Fire Dispatch. E21(fourth due) arrived
third and laid a secondary supply line. A fire in the garage
with extension to the house was brought under control in 30
minutes. Company 2 units operated for two hours with overhaul,

1, 2012 - The 2012 Suppression and Administrative Officer are as
follows:

30, 2011 - FF PJ Hassler and the rest of the 1st Infantry
Division have returned home from his second deployment to
Afghanistan. PJ has been on this deployment since December of
2010 and is now in Kentucky with his wife Stacy, awaiting his
next assignment. The Prince Frederick Volunteers are happy that
our wishes came true for PJ's safe return, and hope to see him
soon. The Hassler family would like to thank everyone for their
continued support.
Laurel
Rd House
December
19, 2011 - At 0712 hours, Engine 21 and Tower 2 were alerted to
Box 7-04 for a house. Company 2 units responded to the 1500
block of Laurel Road. Units arrived on side Alpha of a one story
single family with fire showing from the front. The Engine crew
pulled a line to side Delta, entered the house, and assisted
with knocking down a couple rooms, and extension to the attic.
Squad 2 and Tanker 2 responded on the Working Fire Dispatch.
Company 2 units remained on the scene for 2 hours assisting

Rd Shed
December
18, 2011 - At 1014 hours, Company 2 was alerted to Box 2-10 for
a shed. E21, E22, TWR2, RS2, Tnk2, Chief 2A, and Chief 2C as the
South Duty Chief responded to the 200 block of Mason Road. E21
arrived and found a 10x10 shed with extension to two boats and
an auto. The Engine crew went to work knocking down all fire.
E21 and Tower 2 remained on the scene for just over an hour

Approximately ten minutes after all units cleared, Company 2 was
alerted to Box 2-13 for a house. E21, E22, Twr2, Tnk2, and Chief
2A responded to the 3700 block of Lottie Fowler Road. E21 and
Twr2 arrived on side Alpha of a two story single family with
nothing showing. After investigating, a small fire was found in
an oven. Command held Company 2 units for 10 minutes.
Hallowing
Point Park
December
17, 2011 - At 2003 hours, Squad 2 was alerted to Rescue Box 2-06
for a personal injury accident. Squad 2, and Chief 2 responded
to Hallowing Point Road, in front of the park, and found a two
car accident. Units found five patients involved with one
fly-out. Engine 22 set up the Landing Zone at the Calvert County
Fairgrounds. Company 2 units cleared within an hour. Later that
night, at 0040 hours, Squad 2 was alerted to Rescue Box
2-11 for another personal injury accident. Squad 2, Chief 2, and
Chief 2A responded to Church Street and Solomons Island Road,
and found a single vehicle accident with one overturned after a
Police Chase. The lone patient was flown to the trauma center
for further evaluation. Squad 2 remained on the scene providing
lights for two hours.

Annual Christmas Party
December
10, 2011 - On Saturday, the Prince Frederick Volunteers held our
annual Company Christmas Party. The night started out with
dinner and light music for the members and their families. After
dinner, Santa Clause stopped by to visit all of the children.
Later in the evening, the DJ Keith Hicks kicked it up a notched
for everyone to dance. Thanks to everyone that helped make this
a great Christmas Party.
Calvert
County Christmas Parade
December
4, 2011 - On Sunday, the Prince Frederick Volunteers took
Command 2, Engine 21, Tower 2, Squad 2, and Tanker 2 to the Fox
Run Shopping Center for the annual Calvert County Christmas
Parade. Thanks to everyone that helped clean the apparatus and
participated in the parade.

Rd House
November
24, 2011 - At 1808 hours, Engine 21 and Tanker 2 were alerted to
the Box 6-14 for a house. While in route, first arriving units
found a one story single family with fire showing on side Bravo
with one trapped. E21 arrived and established the RIT while
units made quick work of the fire. Tower 2 responded on the
Working Fire Dispatch and staged with Tanker 2. The Box was held
with Company 6, 5, and Tower 1 in 30 minutes. Pictures courtesy

German
Chapel and Dan Bowen MVA
November
16, 2011 - At 0658 hours, Rescue Squad 2 was alerted to Rescue
Box 2-07 for a personal injury accident. RS2 and Chief 2
responded to German Chapel Road and Dan Bowen Road, and found a
single vehicle rollover with one trapped. Chief 2 established
the German Chapel Road Command while the Squad crew stabilized
the vehicle. As the vehicle was lifted, the door was able to be
opened and the patient was freed. The patient was turned over to
awaiting EMS for a check-up. Company 2 units operated for 20

Wilson
Ct House
November
7, 2011 - At 0032 hours, Company 2 was alerted to Box 2-11 for a
house with people trapped. Company 2 dumped house as E22 arrived
in the Unit block of Wilson Court, on side Alpha of a two story
single family with heavy fire showing, and people jumping from
the windows. E22's crew quickly deployed an attack line and
started an interior attack. Water supply was interrupted briefly
and the crew had to evacuate. Once the water supply was
reestablished, crews went back in to knock down the rest of the
fire in 30 minutes. Three occupants were transported to Calvert
Memorial for a checkup. Company 2 units operated for three hours
with overhaul, and assisting the investigators. Pictures and
