Remembering Those Who Were Lost

In its long history, the Prince Frederick Volunteer Fire Department has had the undeniably sad and heart wrenching experience of the loss of two members in the Line of Duty.

The first was on January 12, 1980, when Truck 2 responding to an Auto accident in the St. Leonard area, Truck left the roadway the accident injured  FF Michael Moore Jr and caused the death of Deputy Chief Donald Bowen, this was the departments first Line of Duty Death.

The second occurred on December 9th 1988, when President/Captain David Gott was returning home from running a call. A car pulled out in front of him on Hallowing Point Road.

The following pages are in honor of the two members who gave the ultimate sacrifice. We pray we never experience another

The Fireman's Prayer

When I’m called to duty god
wherever flames may rage
give me strength to save a life
whatever be its age

Help me to embrace a little child
before it is too late
or save an older person from
the horror of that fate

Enable me to be alert
to hear the weakest shout
and quickly and efficiently
to put the fire out

I want to fill my calling and
to give the best in me
to guard my neighbor and
protect his property

And if according to your will
I have to lose my life
bless with your protecting hand
my children and my wife
