| 11-3-05 At 2147 hours, the Prince Frederick Volunteers were alerted to Rescue Box 2-02. Squad 2(DFC Bowen), Engine 22(Lt Kissinger), AFC Ficke, and Chief Billings responded to Sixes Road and Sandy Point Road for a personal injury accident. AFC Ficke established command as Company 2 units arrived to find a single vehicle into a tree. One patient was removed from the truck and turned over to awaiting EMS to be flown to PG Shock Trauma. | 11-2-05 The Prince Frederick Volunteer Fire Department regrets to announce the passing of lifetime member Edwin King. Mr. King was born on December 10, 1920 and joined Prince Frederick in 1956. He held many rolls throughout his career in the Fire Department on the suppression and administration sides and was an active administrative member to date. | 10-19-05 At 1901 hours, the Prince Frederick and Saint Leonard Volunteers were alerted to Rescue Box 2-04. Squad 2(F/F Bingham), Engine 22(F/F Braswell), and Chief 2A responded to Solomons Island Road just south of Whispering Woods for a personal injury accident. Chief 2A arrived on the scene with a car vs a motorcycle as he established command. Squad 2 assisted with patient care as Engine 22 set up a landing zone. | 10-18-05 At 0854 hours, Engines 7, 2, 6, Truck 3, Squad 7, Tanker 6 and 83 were alerted to Box 7-10. Engine 22(2A Ficke), Chief 2B, and Captain 2(D'agostino) responded to the 2900 block of Saint Leonard Road for a house fire. Chief 2B arrived on the scene and established command as he found a fire in the basement. Engine 22 arrived and pulled a 200'crosslay to side Charlie, entered the basement, and extinguished a small fire. No extension was found and Company 2 units cleared in one hour. Photo Photo |

| 10-16-05 At 1741 hours, Engines 6, 15, 2, 1, Tower 1, Squad 6, Tankers 6 and 2 were alerted to Box 6-23. Engine 22(F/F Boswell) and Tanker 2(Lt Deale) responded to the rear of 3155 Queensberry Drive for a barn fire. Engine 22 layed out at the driveway and arrived to find a barn fully involved. The Engine Companies protected exposures as the barn collapsed. Command (Chief 6) held Companies 6, 2, and 15 for overhaul. Company 2 units cleared at 1920 hours. | ![]() |

| 10-14-05 At 1330 hours, the Prince Frederick, Huntingtown, and Solomons Volunteers were alerted to Rescue Box 2-06. Squad 2(2A Ficke), Engine 22(Lt Deale), and Chief 2 responded to Hallowing Point Road across from the park for a personal injury accident. Chief 2 established command as the Squad crew assisted with removing one patient and The Engine set up a Landing Zone in the park. One patient was flown to PG's Trauma Center and two others transported to CMH. Company 2 units cleared in 30 minutes. |

| 10-13-05 At 1906 hours, Engines 2, 6, 83, Tower 1, Squads 2 and 6 were alerted to Hazmat Box 2-10. Engine 22(F/F Boswell), Squad 2(2A Ficke), and Chief 2 responded to the 1100 block of Connor Court. Chief 2 arrived on side Alpha of a two story townhouse and established command. The Engine crew ran a line while the Squad crew checked for a gas leak. Command held Company 2 units as the gas was shut off. The scene was turned over to Washington Gas Company. Units cleared in 20 minutes. |

10-11-05 Lt. Deale and F/F Beckwith picked up Squad 2 last night from Johnson and Towers after having some work done. All of the compartments were scrubbed, vaccuumed, and wiped down before the tools were put back on. This morning Capt. Della-Camera took E-21 to Delmarva to have work done and brought home E-22 from having work done. The Rescue Engine was returned to Solomons tonight which leaves us with three fire trucks. E-21 will return Friday and the Tower is scheduled to be back at the end of the month. |

| 10-8-05 At 1505 hours, a local alarm alerted Engine 2 for a vehicle fire. Engine 21 responded to 3000 Whispering Drive and found a RV heavily involved next to a house. Engine 21 called for the Box, alerting Engines 7, 6, 83, Truck 3, Squad 7, Tankers 6 and 7. Rescue Engine 2(Capt. Howes) and Tanker 2 responded. The Rescue Engine picked up E-21's line as they got a knock on the fire and Engine 7 protected the exposure. Command (Captain 2) held Companies 2 and 7 for an hour doing overhaul. Photo Photo |

| 10-7-05 The Prince Frederick Volunteers have had a string of bad luck with apparatus lately. With Company 2 being down three fire trucks, this left us with Engine 21 and the Tanker. We would like to thank Company 3 for agreeing to let us borrow Engine 31. Engine 31 has been equipped with extrication equipment to be run as Rescue-2-Engine. We would also like to thank Lt. Deale for coordinating the effort to get the Rescue Engine with Chief 3A(Nava) and Sgt. 3(Thomas). |

| 10-4-05 At 1836 hours, the Prince Frederick and Saint Leonard Volunteers were alerted to Rescue Box 2-08. Squad 2(Capt D'agostino) and Engine 21(Tech Reamy) responded to Solomons Island Road and Main Street for a personal injury accident. Company 2 units arrived on the scene and found two vehicles involved as Captain 2 established command. The Squad crew assisted EMS while the Engine crew pulled an attack line. PF attends county fair |
| 10-2-05 The Prince Frederick Volunteers stood by at the annual Calvert County Fair this passed week. The Fair was held from September 28th thru October 2nd. The Safety House was on display for "Kids Day" so all of the area children could learn about fire safety. Engine 21 stood by all weekend long to make sure everyone was safe at the fair. Thanks to all of the members that participated in the fair activities. |

| 10-1-05 At 1449 hours, Squad 2 was alerted mutual aid to Charles County for an outside fire. Squad 2(Captain Della-Camera) and Engine 22(Lieutenant Kissinger) had just cleared two other calls and responded to the 13500 block of Meadow Court in Hughesville. | 9-30-05 At 1935 hours, Engines 7, 2, 6, Truck 3, and Squad 7 were alerted to Box 7-07. Engine 21 responded to the 5100 block of Kings Road for a shed fire next the house. Engine 21 arrived on side Alpha with a 25x12 shed on fire and extension to a three story house. A task force was called for bringing Engines 3, 83, 81, and Tower 1. The wagon crew advanced an attack line into the house and put a stop on the fire while Engine 7's crew put a knock on the shed. Crews remained on the scene performing extensive overhaul. Company 2 arrived on the scene to find the same as Chief 2A established command. One patient was extricated from the car and a total of three patients transported to CMH. Units cleared in 30 minutes. | 9-25-05 On Sunday, two members of Huntingtown Volunteer Fire Department were injured while operating at an auto accident scene. Squad 2 and Engine 22 responded to the scene to assist Huntingtown units. The Prince Frederick Volunteer Fire Department would like to wish the Huntingtown members a speed recovery. 83rd annual PG Convention |
| 9-24-05 On Saturday, the Prince Frederick Volunteers attended the 83rd annual Prince George's County Convention parade in Brandywine. Brush 2, Engine 21, and Tanker 2 made the trip to Brandywine at 0800 hours to register for the parade. PF Volunteers teamed up with members from Dunkirk and Clinton for the hook-up contests after the parade. | Engine 21 received new light bars during the week of Labor Day. Delmarva Fire Apparatus installed a Whelen Freedom series light bar on the front and Whelen mini light bars on the sides. | 9-16-05 At 1607 hours, the Prince Frederick and Benedict Volunteers were alerted to Rescue Box 2-06. Squad 2, Engine 22, and Chief 2A responded to Hallowing Point Road and Thunderhill Road for a personal injury accident. Company 2 units arrived to find a two vehicle accident. The vehicles were stabilized and the power was secured. Two patients were transported to CMH with non-life threatening injures. Company 2 units cleared in 20 minutes. |

| 9-16-05 On Friday, Prince Frederick Volunteer Lieutenant Jason Deale graduated the DCFD Training Academy. DCFD Recruit Class 341 graduated at 1100 hours after completing a twenty week academy that start on May 2nd. Lieutenant Deale is assigned to the southeast section of the city at Truck 8 on the #2 Platoon. | 9-10-05 At 2316 hours Engines 2, 6, 7, and 83, Tower 1, Truck 3, and Squad 2 were alerted to Box 2-11. Engine 22, Squad 2, and Chief 2B responded to 60Commerce Lane at Bob Evans for a kitchen fire. Company 2 units arrived on side Alpha with nothing showing. After further investigation, a small fire was found confined to the oven. | 9-10-05 At 1317 hours, the Prince Frederick and Solomons Volunteers were alerted to Rescue Box 2-11 by Captain 2. Squad 2 and Engine 22 responded to Hallowing Point Road and North Prince Frederick Boulevard for a motorcycle versus a car. The motorcycle driver was packaged and transported to the Landing Zone for traumatic injuries while the car driver was taken to CMH. Trooper 2 airlifted the patient to the Trauma Center for further evaluation. Captain Howes had command. Units cleared in 30 minutes. |

Relief fund for Katrina |
| 9-3-05 On Saturday September 10th, the Prince Frederick Volunteer Fire Department will be holding a fundraiser for all those who were affected by Hurricane Katrina. The fundraiser will be held from 10am to 5pm and is sponsored by the Red Cross. There will be a silent auction, face painting, and many more activities for everyone to enjoy. Squad 2(Capt D'agostino), Engine 22(Sgt Dalrymple), and Chief 2A(Ficke) responded to Solomons Island Road in front of Company 4 to find a vehicle over the guardrail with one trapped. Chief 2A established command while Captain 2 had the extrication sector. Squad 2 stabilized, then removed the door to gain access to the patient. | Prince Frederick Volunteer Michelle Sigona was nominated for the "Young Marylander of the Year" award this month. Michelle is currently trying to raise money for a new firehouse, is a guest speaker with all the DARE programs/graduations throughout Calvert County, and is helping to raise money for various fundraising projects with the American Cancer Society. Michelle is also working to create a non-profit agency for the TV show "America's Most Wanted" soley to help aide victims of crime. We're proud of you Michelle, keep up the good work. |

| 8-19-05 At 1652 hours, the Prince Frederick Volunteers responded to a personal injury accident at Solomon's Island Rd and Parkers Creek Rd. Squad 2 and Chief 2A arrived on the scene to assist St Leonard units with a patient trapped and two other patients injured. Chief 2A established command and requested the helicopter to transport the trapped victim to the trauma center where she succumbed to her injuries. Two other patients were transported to CMH with non-life threatening injuries. Squad 2 cleared in 25 minutes. |

| 8-15-05 Just after 1700 hours, the PFVRS Volunteers were alerted for a child having seizures. After the arrival of Ambulance 4, the crew requested the helicopter due to a head injury from a bicycle accident. Engine 22(Sgt Dalrymple) responded to Whispering Drive and set up the Landing Zone for Trooper 7. The child was flown to Children's Hospital in Washington DC with non-life threatening injuries. PF units cleared in 20 minutes. |

National KIDS day |
| 8-7-05 On Sunday, the Prince Frederick Volunteers participated in National KIDS day at the Calvert Middle School ball field. Engine 22, Brush 2, Utility 2 with the fire prevention trailer, and Chief 2 were in attendance. The event was hosted by the Boys and Girls Club of Calvert County. Vendors such as Papa Johns, Fantasy World, and 97.1FM were also in attendance. The program ran from 10am until 4pm with kids from all over the county participating. Photo |

Storm brings busy night |
| 8-5-05
A storm came through the area just after 2000 hours bringing many calls
with it. The Engine responded on five runs, the Squad responded to three
runs, and the Tanker responded on three runs, all in a two hour period.
Some of the calls were a pedestrian struck, an auto accident, wires
down, and few box alarms. The Prince Frederick Volunteers maintained
multiple crews having five fire trucks on different calls at the same
time.

7-28-05 At 0730 hours, Company 7 was alerted to Mackall Road and Parran
Road for trouble breathing. Ambulance 7 arrived to find a male that had
fallen down a well. Squad 7 and Chief 7 responded on the call to assist
the Ambulance. Chief 7 arrived and advised he had a confined space
rescue. Chief 2C responded to the scene with confined space gear. Chief
2C was lowered down a 50 foot well where he secured the patient and was
raised out of the well. Units cleared in two hours.

| 7-24-05 At 1905 hours, Prince Frederick and CALS were alerted to Rescue Box 2-11. Squad 2 and Chief 2 responded to Solomon's Island Road in front of Wal-Mart for a motorcycle accident. Prince Frederick units arrived on the scene to find a van versus a motorcycle. The motorcycle driver was found in the northbound lane with traumatic injuries. Trooper 7 was called for to fly the patient to Prince Georges Trauma Center. Prince Frederick units cleared in 30 minutes and were alerted for another minor motorcycle accident on Main Street. |

| 7-22-05 At 1400 hours, Prince Frederick Volunteer Shawn Tucker graduated from the Metropolitan Police Department Academy. Recruit Class 2004-9 graduated at the Boys and Girls Club on Mississippi Avenue in Southeast, D.C. Shawn was not only awarded a certificate for completing the eight month academy, he was also given the Firearms Training Award. | 7-17-05 At 0110 hours, Prince Frederick, Huntingtown, Benedict, North Beach, and St Leonard were alerted to Box 2-18. Engine 21, Squad 2, Tanker 2, Chief 2B, and Chief 2A responded to the 1300 block of Carmel Road for the trailer fire. Chief 6B arrived with fire showing. Engine 21 arrived and pulled a line along with Engine 6 to attack the fire. Squad 2 arrived, performed a primary search and started opening up. Chief 2A called for a task force bringing Engine 5 and Engine 1 to assist. Units operated for just over two hours with extensive overhaul. |

| 7-13-05 At 1109 hours, Prince Frederick, Huntingtown, St Leonard, Benedict, Solomons, and North Beach were alerted to Box 2-11. Engine 21, Squad 2, and Captain 2 responded to the 100 block of Solomons Island Rd for smoke. Engine 21 arrived on side Alpha at the McDonald's Express with nothing showing and started investigating. Squad 2 arrived and laddered the roof on side Charlie. Engine 7's crew investigated the roof area. Crews found contractors working on the roof and units cleared in 20 minutes. |

| 7-10-05 At 2322 hours, Prince Frederick units were alerted to Rescue Box 2-12. Squad 2, Engine 21, and Chief 2 responded to Clay Hammond Road and found a vehicle overturned with one trapped. The Squad crew quickly stabilized and extricated the patient with the assistance of the Engine crew. Huntingtown units were added and arrived to set up a landing zone for Trooper 7 to transport the subject to the Trauma Center. Squad 2 remained on the scene assisting CCSD. |

| 7-3-05 On Sunday morning Squad 2 was invited to Huntingtown to participate in a house burning drill. Members drilled in scene size up, advancing attack lines, locating the fire, and fire extinguishment. The Squad also assisted with filling SCBA cylinders at the end of the drill. | 6-30-05 The Prince Frederick Volunteers were very busy in the month of June with high school graduations, the annual carnival, the MSFA 113th anuual convention, the Potomac River Festival, getting ready for the basket bingo on July 10th, etc. We would like to thank all of the members who put in their time to do all of these activities and still get the apparatus on the street. | 6-24-05 The Prince Frederick Volunteer Fire Department would like to extend our deepest sympathies to the family, friends and co-workers of Cpl. Steven Gaughan. Cpl. Gaughan was killed in the line of duty on June 21 after a traffic stop in South Laurel. The 15 year veteran leaves behind a wife and two children. The viewing will take place today at the Borgwardt Funeral Home in Beltsville from 2 to 4 p.m. and again from 7 to 9 p.m. The funeral service will be at noon Saturday at the Riverdale Baptist Church in Upper Marlboro. |

| 6-19-05 Many of Maryland's Fire Departments took a trip to Ocean City this weekend to get ready for the 113th annual Maryland State Firemen's Convention. Several members of the Prince Frederick Volunteer Fire Department will be in Ocean City to represent the department all week. 54th annual Potomac River Festival |
| 6-10-06 Friday was the start of the 54th annual Potomac River Festival in Colonial Beach, Virginia. Engine 22 made the trip to Colonial Beach to participate in the parade. This is the loudest parade in the DC Metro area because you are aloud to use your Federal, Siren, and Air Horns. The night started with the annual parade before the carnival started, followed by a beauty pageant, and finished up with awards. Solomon's also participated to represent Calvert County. |

| 6-7-05 At 1825 hours, the Prince Frederick Volunteers were alerted to Rescue Box 212. Squad 2, Engine 22, and Chief 2B responded to Clay Hammond Road and Jessica Lane. Units arrived to find a vehicle into a tree. The Squad crew stabilized and secured the vehicle while the Engine crew assisted with removing a tree from the car and road. | 5-20-05 At 1917 hours, the Prince Frederick and Benedict Volunteers were alerted to Rescue Box 2-05. Squad 2, Engine 22, and Chief 2B responded to Hallowing Point Road and Seagull Beach Road. Units arrived to find two vehicles involved and two trapped. Squad 2 and Engine 832 went to work extricating the patients from the car. The roof and door were removed to free the two subjects in 10 minutes. The patients were turned over to awaiting EMS and transported to CMH with non-life threatening injuries. Photo Photo |

May drill |
| 5-17-05 Our monthly drill was held on Tuesday night. Engine 21, 22, Tower 2, Squad 2, Tanker 2, and Brush 2 went back to Dares Beach Road and Clay Hammond Road to do more drilling. This time evolutions were done in a 24'x 30' cinder block building adjacent to the house that was burnt down last week. DJ Reeves completed Confined Space Rescue, Jimmy Billings and DJ Reeves completed Fire Officer I, Sergeant Jon Dalrymple and DJ Reeves completed Truck Company Operations, Holly Hardesty completed EMT-B, and Tommy Scott IV completed EMT-I. Congratulations to those members for enhancing their training to better serve Prince Frederick and surrounding areas. |

| 5-10-06 The Prince Frederick Volunteer Fire Department would like to send our condolences to the Solomon's Volunteer Rescue Squad and Fire Department. The SVRSFD lost life time member Art Pfeifer last week. Art was a 45 year member of Solomon's. A fireman's funeral was held on Solomon's Island today in remembrance of our fallen brother. The last call was sounded for Art as he was laid to rest at Our Lady Star of the Sea. Art, may you rest in peace. |

| 5-8-05 At 1334 hours, Dunkirk, Huntingtown, North Beach, Prince Frederick, and Lothian were alerted to box 5-07. Engine 21 responded as the third due Engine from Company 1 and Tower 2 responded as the second due truck. First arriving units went on the scene at Arby's with heavy smoke showing. The Engine crew advanced an attack line into the side "Charlie" door to assist interior crews. The Tower crew laddered the side "Alpha" roof and assisted the roof division. Units operated for just over two hours hitting hot spots and performing overhaul. |

| 5-8-05 At 1237 hours, North Beach, Huntingtown, Navy Base, Prince Frederick, and Dunkirk were alerted to Box 1-06. Engine 21(Lieutenant Kissinger) responded to the 7700 block of C Street for a townhouse fire. Units arrived with smoke showing as they took their positions. Chief 1 established command while Company 1, 5, and 15 had level 1 operations and everyone elselevel 2 staged. The fire was quickly knocked and command held units operating on the scene. | 5-8-05 On Sunday, Prince Frederick invited Huntingtown, St Leonard, and Benedict to drill at a house that was donated to the department. The house was on Dares Beach Road just passed Clay Hammond Road. The Companies took turns running several different scenarios in three different rooms. 5-7-05 On Saturday, Prince Frederick Volunteer Ben Ridgely tied the knot. Ben and Leanne exchanged vows at Herrington on the Bay in front of family and friends. The reception continued next door where best man Captain Della Camera kicked the night off with a toast to the bride and groom. The night went on with food and dancing for everyone. | 5-1-05 On Sunday, the Prince Frederick Volunteers attended the 58th Annual Southern Maryland Fireman's Parade in Solomons. The units attending the parade were Command 2, Jeep 2, Engine 21, and Tower 2. Tower 2 won Best Appearing Aerial Platform and Jeep 2 won Second Best Appearing Brush Unit. | 4-30-05 At 1005 hours, the Prince Frederick and Huntingtown Volunteers were alerted to Rescue Box 2-11. Squad 2, Engine 22, and Chief 2B responded to Armory Road and Dares Beach Road and arrived to find a truck overturned. Chief 2B established command while the Squad crew stabilized and began extrication. Command held Prince Frederick units only as the patient was removed and turned over to awaiting EMS for a check up. | 4-29-05 On Friday, Prince Frederick Volunteer Billy Bingham graduated from the Annapolis City Fire Department Academy. Billy has two additional weeks of Pump Operator and Aerial/Truck Operations training before he receives his station assignment. Mrs. Bingham held a surprise party for Billy on Saturday to celebrate his graduation. Billy's family and friends had a good time helping him celebrate. Slater lost his life in a tragic accident on Monday when his vehicle skidded into oncoming traffic and his car was struck by an SUV. The accident occurred on Leonardtown Road in Hughesville. | 4-27-05 At 0351 hours, North Beach, Navy Base, Dunkirk, Deale, Huntingtown, and Prince Frederick were alerted to Box 1-06. Tower 2 responded to Stinnett's Restaurant on Bayside Road for a building fire. First arriving units found fire showing. The Tower crew went to the roof and started opening up and setting up lights on the second floor. Engine 21 responded on the second alarm and laid dual lines from Station 1 to the scene. A quick knock was made by the Engine crews. Company 2 units cleared 0526 hours. |

| 4-25-05 At 1411 hours, the Navy Base, North Beach, Huntingtown, Prince Frederick, and Dunkirk were alerted to Box 1-01. Engine 21, Squad 2, and Chief 2A responded to the 3300 block of Meadow Lane for a house fire. First arriving units found fire on the first and second floors. The Engine crew assisted with extinguishment while the Squad crew performed a search and opened up. Tower 2 was special called and assisted with opening up and salvage-overhaul operations. | 4-22-05 On Friday, the Prince Frederick Volunteers took Engine 22 to establish a landing zone for a Patuxent River Naval helicopter. The helicopter landed at Calvert Elementary School for career day. The students at Calvert Elementary School learned about different jobs to get them ready for the future. The crew from Engine 22 was able to check out the helicopter after the pilot gave his presentation to the students. 4-19-05 At 0153 hours, Huntingtown Engine 6, Lothian Engine 9, Shady Side Engine 41, and Prince Frederick Tower 2 were alerted for a second alarm in North Beach. Tower 2 responded to 1st Street and D Street where units from North Beach, Navy Base, Dunkirk, and Deale had a house off with extension to the exposures on side 2 and 4. Tower 2 assisted opening up the side 2 and 4 exposures. Engine 21 filled in at Station 1 while units operated on the scene. Company 2 units cleared just after 0400 hours. |

| 4-17-05 On Sunday, Squad 2 along with Charles County Squad 7 made the trip to LaPlata where a Firefighter II class is being held on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The class learned how to operate on different scenarios in auto extrication. The first scenario was a door pop and roof removal. The second scenario was a car on it's side with a roof removal. The third scenario was a door pop using hand tools only. The class gained valuable knowledge and hands on experience to prepare them for future auto accidents. |

Brady returns to the field |
| 4-9-05 On Saturday, the Prince Frederick Volunteers and Chief 10 went to Hallowing Point Park to watch Steven Dale Brady play his first ball game since his accident. On May 14, 2004 Prince Frederick units were dispatched to Calvert High School for a child struck by a vehicle. Squad 2 and Paramedic Sharon Eskins of CALS were the first to arrive. The child sustained multiple injuries and was flown to Children's Hospital. Steven Dale was in the hospital for approximately two months, on a ventilator for 20 plus days, and had to have multiple surgeries. Photo Photo |

Brush fires starting |

4-7-05 At 1754 hours, the Prince Frederick Volunteers were alerted for our third of four brush fires in the last two days. Brush 2, Jeep 2, Engine 22, and Sergeant 2 responded to the 300 block of Stafford Road. Units arrived with a half acre off on top of a hill. Sergeant Dalrymple established command while the Brush Units went to work on the fire. The fire was quickly stopped from advancing any further. Brush 2 stood by for Forestry while the rest of the units cleared. Brush 2 cleared within an hour. Photo Photo Photo Photo |
